I think this course in particular gave us much more opportunity to continuously practice using the Web 2.0 tools. It wasn't just learn about a tool and file it away. This "play time" was the best part for me. I enjoyed creating work with the tools which increased my comfort level. As technology continues to evolve in the classroom setting, we need to be comfortable evolving to learn new tools and continuously learning how to integrate them to increase the effectiveness.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and if you are lucky enough to have snow (I'm actually stranded at my in-laws tonight :/) Anyway, happy holidays to everyone and thank you for all of the support.
You're right, as technology evolves we have to stay current and evolve with the tools. It never fails that whenever you need the tool, it has been updated and changed since last time you looked at it. It is important to be able to quickly learn the interface and be able to adapt on the spot to use the tools. The "play time" was great. The best way to learn the tools is to experiment.
ReplyDeleteps. I fed your fish on your side bar :)
Thanks Mike, they were hungry! My fish were a nice distraction for me.
ReplyDeleteI find that some of the tools change but become more complicated so you have to rethink how and who is going to use them. It's a all a learning curve!
I agree that this course was not just a chance to learn a new tool and file it away. I also like the fact that we used real tools like blogger and Wikispaces instead of just reeling on Blackboard! I know I have become more aware of tools and the importance of evolving with the tool in order to stay current and relevant.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love that we used Blogger for our discussions. It made them more interesting to read and write. It illustrates how our kids enjoy learning via technology as well (well fun technology, Blackboard and Chalk and Wire are technology too, but not as fun as Web2.0 :) And I love your pictures, Jenn!
